UTB Chess Team makes the FINAL FOUR!!!
The UTB Chess team has traveled to Dallas to compete in the Pan-Am Intercollegiate tournament.
Finishing with 4.5 out of 6 points gives the team a 3rd place standing overall AND a berth in the Intercollegiate Finals to be held this coming Spring Break.
They will face the University of Texas at Dallas, Stanford University and University of Maryland at Baltimore County.

The Harlingen Medical Center has been very generous and is allowing us to hold a community chess meeting every Wednesday of the month at their educational wing of the hospital. It is located at 5505 Expressway 77/83 in Harlingen. SPONSOREDBY

ANDTHE HARLINGEN MEDICAL CENTER
Meeting times will be from 7:00 P.M. until about 9:00 P.M.
Please consider attending to sharpen your chess skills and get tips from other players! We ask that any players under the age of 12 to be accompanied by an adult.
Our first meeting is tentatively set for Wednesday, December 3rd. It is informal and open to everyone. Please bring your own sets and clocks. Hope to see you there!
National Youth Action results.
The USCF National Youth Action Tournament was held on November 7, 8 & 9th at the Jacob Brown Auditorium in Brownsville. Over 400 players attended and had a great time.

Many, many thanks to the organizers, Franc Guadalupe and Rusty Harwood (UTB) for bringing this event to the Valley and to the staff and volunteers that spent many an hour setting up and running this National event.
